Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.)
L29.5cm: W22cm
Standing out in sharp contrast to a dark satin base is a pair of embroidered white crane ronndels. The cranes, seen in flight, are different in the way they direct their attention to, with one carrying a heart-shaped ruyi and looking forward while the other carries a twig of flowers and looks caringly towards the back. A superb example of craftsmanship, this piece with a figurative arrangement is a prayer for good luck. The feathers are worked with satin stitch whereas the crowns are in knot stitch. (XY)
