Confronting wave and hexagonal tortoiseshell are interlaced to form the framework, with similar images found on embroideries dating to Northern Wei dynasty excavated in Mogao Grotto of Dunhuang. Animals inside the framework are divided into two lines, one with paired deer and lions, the other with paired deer and phoenixes.
