2018-01-06

Northern Dynasties. 386-581 A.D

China National Silk Museum, Hangzhou

L72cm, W192cm

This dark brown blouse has overlapping panels under the collar and loose, trumpet-shaped sleeves. In a plain silk tabby material, the small yellow spots are left by tie-dye, a technique popular during the Northern Dynasties. Female costumes extant from the Northern Dynasties in such good condition are rare. (XY)
