This exhibition is organized by the Directorate General of Culture of Zhejiang Province and Chinese Culture Center in Berlin, and presented by China National Silk Museum. It mainly exhibited artistic works related to the culture and art silk in modern China. Apart from the history and techniques, we focus more on the artistic aspects of silk, showing its deep artistic profile through natural knowledge, traditional techniques and modern designs fiber art. We sincerely hope that the public, through this exhibition, can get a comprehensive understanding of China's silk culture and its artistic charisma.

Section I: Source of Silk

It displays the nature of silk.

Spinned by the silkworm, the silk is a kind of raw material for silk fabrics. After weaving, dyeing, printing, embrodery, etc such techniques so that colors and patterns of silk being more complex, it offers people to enjoy the beauty.

Section II: Techniques of Silk

Silk has always been the focus of attention for its elegant, soft character and exquisite techniques. It is, at the same time, a symbol of Chinese culture. The pieces presented in this section consist of an innovation both in form and content as silk works with new design ideas based on the traditional techniques of embroidery, fabric colors, kesi and hand painting. These pieces are an improvement over the continuity, including both known and seemingly techniques inherited from generation to generation, but also the new understanding and attempts on the art of silk by the artists of today.

Section III: Art of Silk

Chinese silk today remains its glamour, as the modern digital textile technology introduced, and traditional weaving, dyeing, etc. techniques combined with contemporary art. 

The current designers have created original works from their own views based on inspirations derived from the culture, patterns and traditional weaving skills of silk. The innovative art silk as their carriers is sample of the new consideration and appreciation of the culture of silk, which has overcome quite the nature of silk and has become an important element in modern societies.

This exhibition has employed diverse display forms, as well as a series of supporting activities. During the opening ceremony, models from NE ? TIGER, Chinese famous fashion company, are invited to perform the beauty of Chinese silk dress.
