The first annual meeting of International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles (IASSRT) held at NSM (2016-09-22)
At the evening of 22 September 2016, the first annual meeting of International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles (IASSRT) is held at Xinyou Archives, China National Silk Museum.



Those participants includes: Susan Whitfield, Director of IDP, British Library UK, Mei Jianjun,Needham Research Institute (NRI), Anna Muthesius,Professor of University of Cambridge (retired), UK, Marie-Louise Nosch, Director of the Danish National Research Foundation’s Centre for Textile Research, University of Copenhagen, Dode Zvezdana, Senior researcher Southern Scientific Center of Russian Academy of Sciences (SSC RAS), Russia, Orit Shamir, head of Department of Museums & Exhibits, Curator of Organic Materials, Israel Antiquities Authority, Maria Menshikova,Curator of Chinese Decorative arts and textiles and Dunhuang collections of the State Hermitage museum, Claudio Zanier, Professor of Padova University (retired), Italy, Sim YeonOk, Professor of Korea National University of Culture Heritage, Maximilien Durand,Director of Musée Des Tissus, France, Lu Dongming, The Collaborative Innovation Center for the Belt and Road Initiative, Wang Jun, Donghua University, Guan Xiaowu, Institute for the History of Natural Science ( IHNS), Chinese Academy of Sciences ( CAS), Cao Mingjing, ICOMOS International Conservation Center, Xi'an, Li Wenying, Xinjiang Archaeological Research Institute, etc.



During the meeting, several issues are undertaken: bringing in new members, discussing the organization framework of the Association, discussing the work plans of the Association in 2017 and 2018, and reaching a consensus on China National Silk Museum's application for the Category 2 Center of UNESCO-an International Center for Silk Heritage on the Silk Roads.
