Chinese Silk and Decorative Art

On the afternoon of April 12, CNSM invited James CY Watt, the honorary curator ofthe Metropolitan Museum of Art, to present a lecture titled: "Chinese Silk and Decorative Art".


James CY Watt, who graduated from Oxford University, focuses his studies on: Asian art, museum exhibition curating, education of art history, etc., and has curated a variety of exhibitions.


Mr. Watt gave examples of various ancient motifs on silk, bronze, porcelain, gold- and silver-ware from the Warring States Period to Yuan dynasty. Each era contained its own patterns and motifs, it possible for the viewer to identify and appreciate the diversity of craft.
