Research Achievements
As the largest specialized museum on textiles in China, CNSM has set up Chinese textiles Identification Protection Center (2000) and Key Scientific Research Base of Textile Conservation, SACH (2009), which have been committed to research and conserve the textile relics. As two of the major research institutes in textile conservation, they have undertaken considerable projects, including three projects of National Science and Technology Support Programs, two of “Campus Plan — Exposing & Displaying the Value of Chinese Ancient Inventions”, eight projects of State Administration of Cultural Heritage, thirteen of China's National Social Science Fund & the State Key Publishing Projects, twelve projects of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Heritage, three internationally co-operative projects, and also published fifteen monographs in both Chinese and English, published over 100 papers, got eight invention patents approved, developed three standards in textiles conservation industry, becoming one of the major research institutions of China. Among which, “Exposing & Displaying the Value of Weaving Techniques of Eastern Zhou Dynasty – Take Unearthed Textiles as Examples” has awarded the second prize of “2009 Science and Technological Innovation on Cultural Relics”, “Technical Manual of Museum Textile Collections Conservation” has awarded “2009 Best Handbook in Museology”, and “The General History of Chinese Silk” has won the 1st China Outstanding Publication Award in 2006 & China Government Publication Award in 2007.
